Meet Your Guest Wine Rep: Alec Salazar

From the vibrant hospitality scene of San Antonio to the acclaimed dining rooms of Austin, Alec has built his career around sharing great wine with great people. During his time in Austin’s restaurant community, including Birdie’s, Emmer & Rye, and Bakery Lorraine, he developed and led his own wine program and bottle shop, shaping thoughtful selections designed to complement seasonal cuisine and create meaningful guest experiences.

Today, Alec brings that hospitality-driven perspective to Rootstock, where he manages sales and partnerships across San Antonio and the Texas Hill Country. Known for his relationship-first approach, Alec focuses on making wine approachable, exciting, and rooted in connection, whether he’s building a restaurant list, guiding a tasting, or helping someone discover a new favorite.

He believes the best wine is the one shared with good company, especially when paired with a memorable meal.
